The Greyhounds started off the scoring today when Jason Hughes found the back of the net with 12:37 remaining, assisted by senior captain Dan Matisoff. Adelphi tied it up a little over a minute later when Michael Osmundsen scored unassisted for the Panthers. Score: 1-1

Two minutes later it was Osmundsen finding the back of the net again to give Adelphi the 2-1 lead with 9:44 remaining. Travis Reid scored for the Greyhounds to pull the game to 2-2.

Then Adelphi went on a 4-goal run, with goals being scored by Nicolas Racalbuto (2), Sean McGovern, and Ian Kirby.  Brett Jennings scored the final goal of the first quarter bringing the Hounds within 3 at the end of the quarter. Score: 6-3 Adelphi

In the second quarter, Adelphi scored 3 unanswered goals on the Greyhounds, making the score 9-3 going into halftime.

To start the half, Trevor Kennedy opened the scoring, followed by his roommate Brett Jennings. Then Osmundsen scored his 3rd of the game. The Hounds outscored the Panthers 6-3 in the 3rd quarter, with the other 4 goals coming from Jennings (1), Farrell (2), and Travis Reid (1). Score: 12-9 Adelphi

“We worked the ball around and I felt that I had the best match up to beat my man and score. My first two goal I used my size to try and inside Roll but ended up getting top side on my man and finish my opportunity” said Jennings. “My last goal was a feed from Travis Reid and I was able to get a step down shot off and bury it” he said of his 3rd and final goal.

Jennings told us, “Adelphi had a really good off ball cutter that was hard for us to guard. On top of that their poles were aggressive and caused turnovers that were critical in the game. They played very good team offense and shared the ball.” He also added that the Panthers goalie Brendan McDougal “made huge saves during the course of the game. We just needed to capitalize on our opportunities and unfortunately we came up a little short.”

The Greyhounds will be back in action at 11 AM on Saturday as they play NE-10 opponent Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH. A win there would be huge to keep the Greyhounds postseason hopes alive.

Jennings says the Greyhounds need to “limit our turnovers and posses the ball more on offense. Having those extra possessions will allow us to score more goals and take time off the clock. We just need to keep playing team defense all around and come out hot from the start these next games.” Look for the Greyhounds to possess the ball on Saturday.
