You know when springtime hits Assumption College because the students are everywhere on campus enjoying the nice weather. And by nice weather, anything 40 and above qualifies!
Thursday students showed up ready to support Assumption Baseball in their game against neighboring rivals, American International. The weather was around 45 with some intense winds but fans still packed the bleachers. Why? Students love to support Assumption Athletics!
Assumption seniors Claudelle Osias, Olivia Nappi and Mal Rathbone showed their loyal support consistently throughout Thursday’s three-hour game. But that’s just part of their weekly routine. Osias, Nappi and Rathbone go to every game to support their friend and Assumption pitcher, Colton King. “We always have to come to support Colton, so it’s really cool that he’s pitching today,” said Osias. “It’s pretty chilly today but we still come. When the weather is warm its way more fun and tons of people come,” Nappi told us.
Even with the not so warm weather, fans from Assumption and AIC filled the crowd along with parents, professors and even family dogs. Students played basketball and other outdoor games on the lawn near the baseball field while they cheered on the team.
“We just love baseball,” said Osias. “I’m a senior, I’ll be graduating soon so I’m trying to soak up all my time here by going to as many things as I can. I always come to baseball to support my friend.”
Assumption wins 14-12 thanks for following along! Story to come! #gametime pic.twitter.com/Oa9PWy6QkZ

As for Assumption Baseball, the Hounds walked away with a 14-12 win against American International. Some game highlights? Senior, left fielder Trevor McQuade went 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBIs while senior pitcher Colton King took the win with 4 innings pitched and no earned runs.
Assumption Baseball is halfway through their season with a 15-11 record and a 3-5 record in their conference. With 8 seniors on the roster this year, the team has no problem gaining support from fellow classmates.
A home run by Trevor McQuade sparked a five-run sixth and @ACGreyhoundsBB won big over AIC, 14-12, to start their week 2-0!
