While most Assumption College students used the extra time to study or grab lunch during the college’s common hour, others headed to the Jeanne Y. Curtis Performance Hall, located in the campus’ newest building, the Tsotsis Family Academic Center.
If you happened to stop by, you may have heard the elegant strums of the harpsichord, cello, or violin; all of which being performed by the Bach Consort Chamber Trio.
The group consists of three very experienced musicians, all of whom have decades of experience in the music industry. Peter Sulski, the group’s violinist, has performed in more than 30 countries and has played in a variety of different orchestras and academies. Sulski is the founder of the Worcester Chamber Music Society, while also being involved in many other groups like Neighborhood Strings, which is a charity program that provides music lessons and mentoring for the disadvantaged youth.
Ariana Falk, the group’s cellist, is the Education Director for the Worcester Chamber Music Society. She is also a director of the Neighborhood Strings Program, and is apart of the music faculty at Clark University.
The last member of the group is the organist and harpsichordist, Michelle Graveline. Graveline is a Professor of music at Assumption College, while also being the Director of the college’s Chorale. She is an active performer in various recitals and symphonies.
Graveline is always sure to schedule different performances on the Assumption Campus, as it is a striking event for her students and co-workers to be apart of;
“I was told that I would receive extra credit for going, but it ended up being an unreal show. I would recommend it to my friends and even come again myself the next time they perform here,” Jillian Pinard said.
“I went for the extra credit, but I ended up enjoying the show!” Kevin Quinlivan said.
Others students were music class members which were obligated to go, but they enjoyed the show as well;
“I’m not a music major, but it has been fun to learn about new instruments and to experience shows like that. If it wasn’t for my class I would have never seen them perform, but it was really cool to see,” Mike Schmidt shared, “I’d enjoy seeing them play here again.”
The performance was an ideal interlude for students to relax between classes and listen to a high quality performance, conducted by the three experienced artists.
While students may have had specific reasons for attending, they were able to appreciate the performance more than they had anticipated, and look forward to seeing The Bach Consort Chamber Trio return to campus.
