Being a student can get difficult around election time if you aren’t from the state your school is located in. Here’s who the candidates are for the gubernatorial election on Tuesday for the five other New England states besides Massachusetts—Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine or New Hampshire.
Connecticut: The gubernatorial election features a race between Dannel P. Malloy (D) and Thomas C. Foley (R). Rhode Island: In Rhode Island State General Treasurer Gina Raimondo (D) is running against Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. Third party candidates Bob Healey, Kate Fletcher, Leon Kayarian are all on the general election ballot. Vermont: Vermont, like Rhode Island, has a crowded ballot this time around; incumbent Democrat Peter Shumlin, is running for his third two-year term, Republican Scott Milne, Libertarian Dan Feliciano, Independents Bernard Peters, Chris Ericson and Emily Peyton and the Liberty Union’s Peter Diamondstone are all running as well. Maine: Maine’s current governor, Paul LePage (R) is running for re-election for a second term in office. He faces Democratic candidate Mike Michaud and independent candidate Eliot Cutler. New Hampshire: Another incumbent governor is running for re-election. This time, current governor Maggie Hassan (D) is running against Republican candidate Walter Havenstein.
